Vitamin A is found in fruits and vegetables. It is very important in maintaining good eyesight. Many people have problems with vision, as they grow old. However, young people need more of this vitamin than older people because their bodies convert it into a substance called retinol, which is needed for the formation of new cells. This vitamin also helps to keep the skin looking fresh and vibrant.

Vitamin B is found in certain leafy green plants like spinach, kale, mustard greens and collard greens. It is important for the health of the stomach lining. Many people are not getting enough of this particular vitamin because it is more abundant in vegetables and fruits than in meat products. Milk is also fortified with the B vitamins and minerals, so people need to drink lots of milk to get the proper amount. Cheese is fortified with the same vitamins and minerals as other dairy products.

Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits, broccoli, oranges, red bell peppers, tomatoes, and pineapple. It is one of the most powerful antioxidants available. Antioxidants are needed to remove free radicals from the body. Free radicals are harmful substances that can damage DNA and affect the cell membranes and other internal organs and systems.

Vitamin D is found in salmon, milk, cod liver oil, certain types of cheese and peanut butter. In the past people didn’t eat a great deal of fish, but today people eat a great deal of fish, and because of the vitamin D found in some animal products, many people are deficient in this mineral. Folic acid is also very important for the development of the brain and spinal cord in growing children.
